Some of my favorite assignments of the year are the mock trials that we run in American Government & Law. Its a great way for seniors to wrap up the year, and they work really hard on them.
I try to make them as realistic as possible, and this year's were fantastic. Here we see a "sidebar":
The actual cases are written by Georgetown Law students, and they are designed to have no clear winner. The law teams have to do the research and present the best case possible, and know the rules of evidence. Witnesses have to know their info well enough to answer any question that may be asked. Its also a lot of fun for me.~MET

A few years ago, kids started explaining this project to me, and I was fascinated. Do you ever videotape them or allow others to come in and watch the process, Your Honor? Perhaps the best part of the entire activity is that the kids truly take it seriously...what a great idea!
