Finding Another Hidden Treasure

 There is nothing better than eating at a new (for us) restaurant with my wife. Today we went to Bristol, and the lesser included village of Round Pond, to try the Anchor: http://www.theanchorrestaurant.com/
 The view from the deck was pretty spectacular. Round Pond is actually just a small harbor, and we found out that much of the village is owned by the family that owns Reny's. M-S started with some sort of Hendrick's Gin "breeze" drink, while I had a Round Pond Beetah:

 Mine had vodka, lime, and beet juice. It was actually pretty tasty. We weren't going to get an appetizer until we saw popcorn lobster:

 I had one of the best sandwiches I've ever had - a Damariscotta Oyster Po Boy:

 It was fantastic. On the way home we hit Oxbow Farmhouse Brewing...another Maine treasure:

We couldn't have picked a better day. The breeze in Bristol was gorgeous, there was really good live music, and the food was awesome. Life is good.

Quick Trip to Boston

 M-S and I spent last night in Boston - we wanted to see Chris and to have a meal in a restaurant we haven't tried. We met Chris in Davis Square in Somerville and had a beer at this very authentic Irish pub:

 It reminded both of us of Dublin - which was nice. Both of our waiters were, in fact, from Ireland. Last Christmas Chris gave us a gift certificate to this place:

 Also a Davis Square establishment. We got some great wine and two kinds of pasta.

 We also bought some porcini mushroom ravioli. Both looked amazing. We went to the North End for dinner and settled on this place:

 It was a very busy and very, very good place. But - we've never had a bad meal on in the North End. M-S and I stayed in an AirBnB on Beacon Hill and spent this morning just walking around and enjoying the weather.

It was a very nice visit with Chris and we had the best of both world's: a beer at an Irish Pub and a meal in an Italian restaurant. M-S made the linguini tonight for dinner and it was AMAZING. We need to get fresh pasta more often. Life is good.

Why Bernie Fans Need to Support Hillary

     I've been reading with great interest the numerous posts on social media penned by disheartened Bernie Sanders supporters. I understand your frustration - I caucused for Senator Sanders in March. It felt great to cast a vote for someone who seemed to believe all the same things that I do. Someone who hasn't been purchased by Wall Street. Someone who has been fighting for equal rights for 50 years.

     So I'm reading posts from his supporters who say they can't vote for Clinton essentially because she isn't "Bernie" enough. They say she can't be trusted, she's too much of a hawk, or that she has too many ties to Wall Street. Some have even stated that a Trump presidency would be preferable because Trump will be the bomb that blows up the entire system and that will pave the way for Bernie's vision.  The people who have written these things are people who I love and respect, and I absolutely admire the passion that each has displayed.

     But one thing that is missing in all of those posts is any mention of the Supreme Court. The next president will not only be filling Scalia's seat, but likely will appoint replacements for Ginsburg, Kennedy, and maybe even Breyer. If you truly believe in what Bernie Sanders stands for - you cannot allow Donald Trump to fill those seats.

     I may not agree with everything that Hillary represents, but I KNOW she will appoint progressive justices. And if you don't think thats important consider this:

• Bernie's ideas don't happen until Citizens United is overturned
• All the progress made on behalf of gay rights could be turned around
• Women's rights will take an enormous step backward
• The new battles involving transgender Americans will go badly
• We will continue to have a pro-business, anti-worker court
• etc, etc, etc

    And even if Trump fails and is defeated in a landslide after four years, his Scalia pick (and perhaps one or two more) will be on the Court for years and years. And any progress made in this historic Bernie Sanders campaign will die. He has made a difference. Helping to elect Donald Trump erases that massive step toward real reform in America.

     I hope you will join me in voting for Hillary Clinton so that Bernie Sanders' ideas have a chance of becoming reality someday. When I vote in November I'll not only be voting for Hillary Clinton, but also for three or four members of the United States Supreme Court. I'll be voting for the way the Constitution is interpreted for what will essentially be the remainder of my life.
