A Successful Business Brunch

      On this beautiful (finally) winter morning M-S and I has brunch with some very talented and very interesting local organic farmers. Mike and Cari are from Palermo and Suzanne and Clint work a farm in Whitefield. We've been looking for a new CSA for this year and heard that Clint and Suzanne offer one from their place: Crooked Door Farm. This is from their website:

 We talked about lots of things, but hearing about the veggies was really interesting. We ended up getting a full share that will get us 20 weeks of fresh vegetables beginning in June. We also signed up for a flower share that will get us 10 bouquets. The best part of having farmers for brunch is that they bring wonderful things:

 Thats handmade hard cider, applesauce, very hot salsa, tea, and face cream. Cari made the tea and cream, Mike the cider, and the rest is from Crooked Door. All amazing. Baxter seemed to be taken with Suzanne and Clint's daughter Cadence:

We had a great brunch and I love listening to people who have such interesting skills. We're already looking forward to our first box in June!

Another Great MEA Training

 For the last couple of days I've been in Bangor participating in MEA's new ACE training. ACE = Advocates for Children and Education. The statewide group (which has over 100 members now) will be involved with grass-roots organizing and relationship building with legislators. The GR team from MEA did a fantastic job, and I continue to get more and more excited about this work. Representative Kornfield, Chair of the Education Committee, addresses the group:

Way Too Much Snow!

 Ok...seriously...enough is enough. These pictures are from my backyard.

The shed to the right holds our oil tank, so I have to keep the door clear. Look at the snow! We've lived here for almost 15 years and its NEVER been like this. AND, its going to continue snowing through the night. This is a winter for the ages, and we still have February and March!

Morning in the Snowy Woods

 M-S and I took to the woods this morning and hiked up Mt. Pisgah. I'm pretty sure the picture above is one of the best of all time.

 The trail on the way up was well packed, but still provided a good workout as we trudged through the snow.

 We took a different trail down which was not well worn - and it was a slow slog:

 We had a great time and got some fresh air in our lungs. The blazes are traditionally painted about six feet up on a tree:

Look closely and you can see a beautiful shot of Mt. Washington. Now gearing up for the Super Bowl. Life is good.
